Biography
Syd Matters, born Jonathan Morali in Paris in 1973, is a singer-songwriter known for his atmospheric folk-pop style. He released his debut album, A Whisper and a Sigh, in 2003 and followed it up with Someday We Will Foresee Obstacles in 2005. Matters faced confusion when V2 Records released his second album in the U.S. under the title Syd Matters, combining it with his first album in a double-disc package using the same cover art. In 2008, Syd Matters, now a full band, released their third album, Ghost Days.
Syd Matters' music blends acoustic settings with electronica influences, drawing comparisons to artists like Nick Drake and Radiohead. Despite the label confusion, Matters' unique sound and evolving band dynamics have solidified their place in the indie music scene.
