Biography

The North Mississippi Allstars' latest record, Up and Rolling, was inspired by a forgotten roll of film capturing the communal spirit of four Mississippi hill families. Brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson, rooted in the North Mississippi music scene, were introduced to local musicians by photographer Wyatt McSpadden in 1996. Their visit to Otha Turner's farm led to the creation of "Call That Gone," a track that would later feature on the album.

The Dickinson brothers, influenced by their father Jim Dickinson's musical legacy, immersed themselves in the roots repertoire of their community. Sitting on Otha Turner's porch, they collaborated on music, with Luther on guitar and Otha improvising lyrics.
