Formed in 1989 in the Virgin Islands by brothers Ron and Vaughn Benjamin, the band Midnite quickly gained popularity in St. Croix, St. Thomas, Puerto Rico, and along the East Coast of the United States. The quintet, which includes members like Dion Hopkins, Joe Straws, and Trippa, has shared the stage with notable artists such as Steel Pulse, Barrington Levy, and Hugh Masekela. Led by Vaughn as the main songwriter and Ron as the musical director, Midnite's politically charged albums like Ras Mek Peace (1999) and Treasure (2011) showcase their dancehall style and have earned them a dedicated following on college campuses and beyond.

Known for their one-drop foundation and tight backbeat skank, Midnite's music has resonated with audiences worldwide, including during a successful three-week tour of South Africa.
