Apple Orchard

The Apple Orchard, an indie pop duo formed by brothers Ryan and Dale Marquez, draw inspiration from bands like the Pastels and the Sugargliders, as well as contemporaries such as the Bridal Shop and Cats on Fire. Beginning in 2000 with the track "Wide Awake," featured on the Filipino compilation album Mutual Admiration Society, the duo quickly gained momentum with various compilation appearances and cassette tape releases through labels like Dorothy Records and Best Kept Secret. Their debut full-length album, Half-Steps Toward Bright Skies, was independently released on their label, Haymarket Recordings, followed by subsequent mini-albums and singles in the years to come.

The Marquez brothers, as The Apple Orchard, have established themselves as a prolific indie pop outfit, with a discography that includes compilation features such as Dashboard Teddy, Vol. 1, and cassette tape releases like Last Wednesday and Paris Was a Daydream. Their music, reminiscent of the jangly, dreamy sounds of their influences, has garnered attention from indie labels like Secret Crush Records and Cloudberry Records. With a DIY ethos, The Apple Orchard continues to craft their signature sound, with releases like Leafy Lanes and A Month of Spring further solidifying their presence in the indie pop scene.
