Biography

Formed in 2010 by former HANIMA members Kenta and Ko-shin, Japanese pop-punk trio WANIMA quickly gained popularity with their energetic sound. Their 2014 debut album, Can Not Behave!!, marked their entry into the Japanese charts, followed by the breakthrough success of Are You Coming? in 2015, reaching No. 4. The band garnered recognition at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards Japan for their song "CHARM," winning Best Rock Video Honors. WANIMA's singles have achieved Gold and Platinum certifications, with "Tomoni" going Platinum in 2016 and "Yattemiyou" achieving double-Platinum in 2017. In 2018, WANIMA made their major-label debut with Everybody!!, which topped the Japanese album charts, a feat repeated by their 2019 release, COMINATCHA!!. Their track "JUICE UP!! Theme," featured on Everybody!!, was selected as the official song for the Japanese version of the 2018 superhero film Ant-Man and the Wasp.
