Biography

Vance Joy, born James Keogh, is an Australian indie folk singer/songwriter who began his music career in the late 2000s while studying law. Influenced by Bon Iver, he gained recognition in the Melbourne open-mic scene and decided to pursue music full-time. Taking on the stage name Vance Joy from a character in Peter Carey's novel Bliss, he released his debut EP God Loves You When You're Dancing, which included the popular single "Riptide." This led to a record deal with Atlantic Records, and his debut album Dream Your Life Away was released in September 2014, featuring hits like "Mess is Mine" and "Fire and the Flood."

In February 2018, Vance Joy released his second album, Nation of Two, which included singles such as "Lay It On Me" and "Saturday Sun." In 2021, he released the track "Missing Piece," which achieved x2 Platinum status in Australia and is part of his 2022 album, In Our Own Sweet Time. Vance Joy continues to tour internationally and build on his success in the indie folk music scene.
