Mike Paradinas is a prominent figure in electronic home-listening music, known for his unique blend of abrasive techno elements and experimental electronica. Under the alias µ-Ziq, Paradinas has released influential albums such as 1993's Tango n' Vectif and 1997's Lunatic Harness, which helped define the drill'n'bass microgenre. Throughout his career, Paradinas has explored various electronic styles, including breakcore and footwork, while drawing inspiration from the British rave scene and Detroit techno. His collaborations, such as the 2021 album Secret Garden with Mrs Jynx, showcase his versatility in creating wistful ambient electronica.

Born in Wimbledon and raised in London, Paradinas began his music career in the '80s, playing keyboards and drawing influence from new wave bands like Human League and New Order. After forming µ-Ziq and releasing his debut album in 1993, Paradinas continued to push boundaries with side projects like Jake Slazenger and Kid Spatula. His work with labels like Rephlex and Virgin Records led to critical acclaim and a diverse catalog of releases, including the genre-blurring Royal Astronomy in 1999 and the darkly introspective Duntisbourne Abbots Soulmate Devastation Technique in 2007. Paradinas' ongoing exploration of electronic music has culminated in recent releases like 2023's ambient-leaning 1977 and the breakbeat-driven Grush in 2024.
