Biography
Since 1999, Subatomic Sound System has been at the forefront of the live dub & bass sound system movement in NYC, blending future sounds and performance styles with Jamaican music roots. Led by producer Emch, the band features percussion legend Larry McDonald and saxophonist Troy Shaka Simms, touring globally and collaborating with artists like Screechy Dan. Notable projects include working with Lee "Scratch" Perry on the Black Ark studio sound and celebrating the 45th anniversary of Blackboard Jungle Dub with Scratch in 2020.
In recent years, Subatomic has expanded its sonic palette by fusing dancehall with hip hop and electronic music, exemplified by collaborations with Mykal Rose and Hollie Cook. Their innovative releases like the "NYC-2-Africa riddim" and "Vampires & Informers" showcase their ability to push boundaries and create unique genre-blending music that resonates with audiences worldwide.
