Biography

Strung Out, a California band formed in 1989, has explored skate punk, metal, and melodic hardcore throughout their lengthy career. Initially blending punk speed with metal guitar power, they gained popularity in the '90s with hardcore anthems and an anti-authority attitude on albums like Another Day in Paradise and Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues. Evolving towards a more melodic sound in the 2000s, they achieved mainstream success with releases such as Twisted by Design and An American Paradox, marking their first appearance on the Billboard 200. Continuing to blend speedy riffs with mature introspection, Strung Out returned in 2024 with their tenth album, Dead Rebellion, following a five-year hiatus.

The band, consisting of vocalist Jason Cruz, guitarists Jake Kiley and Rob Ramos, bassist Jim Cherry, and drummer Adam Austin (later replaced by Jordan Burns), signed with Fat Wreck Chords in 1993 and released their debut album, Another Day in Paradise, the following year.
