Biography

In the early 2000s, Taking Back Sunday was a rising emo rock band known for the dynamic songwriting and vocal duo of Adam Lazzara and John Nolan. However, internal restlessness led to Nolan and bassist Shaun Cooper leaving the group. They regrouped as Straylight Run, adopting a more indie rock sound with piano-driven tunes. Straylight Run quickly gained buzz with free demo releases and signed with Victory Records, releasing their self-titled debut in 2004. The band toured extensively and released the socially aware EP Prepare to Be Wrong in 2005, addressing topics like the war in Iraq and their split from Taking Back Sunday. They signed with Universal Republic in 2007 and released their sophomore album, The Needles the Space, that June.
