Strawberry Switchblade

Strawberry Switchblade, the duo of Rose McDowall and Jill Bryson, emerged from the goth scene in the ‘80s, capturing attention with their polka-dot dresses and deceptively sweet dance-pop sound. Originally formed in Glasgow, Scotland, the band gained traction with singles like "Since Yesterday," which reached number five on the UK charts in 1984. Despite their mainstream success, Strawberry Switchblade disbanded in 1986 due to the pressures of the music industry. McDowall went on to collaborate with experimental acts, while the band developed a cult following in later years, with their only album reissued in Japan in the early ‘90s.

Strawberry Switchblade's brief but impactful career saw them rise to fame with colorful, hook-laden pop tunes that belied the underlying themes of melancholy in their lyrics.
