Biography

Emerging in the late-'90s industrial rock scene alongside bands like Nine Inch Nails and Gravity Kills, Stabbing Westward gained mainstream recognition with their gold-certified albums Wither Blister Burn & Peel (1996) and Darkest Days (1998). The band's sound evolved over the years, culminating in a more pop-oriented style on their 2001 self-titled album before disbanding in 2002. After nearly two decades, Stabbing Westward made a comeback with the 2020 EP Dead and Gone and released their fifth full-length album, Chasing Ghosts, in 2022.

Formed in 1985 in Illinois, Stabbing Westward was led by vocalist Christopher Hall and keyboardist Walter Flakus before relocating to Chicago and solidifying their lineup. The band's major-label debut, Ungod, was released by Columbia Records in 1993, paving the way for their breakthrough success with Wither Blister Burn & Peel in 1996. Despite lineup changes and label shifts, Stabbing Westward continued to create music that resonated with fans, leading to their 2022 release Chasing Ghosts, produced by John Fryer and mixed by Tom Baker.
