Biography
Erik de Jong, also known as Spinvis, is a Dutch musician who made his debut in 2002 with a self-titled album that surprised critics and the music industry. Despite being in his forties at the time, De Jong's unique blend of lo-fi singer/songwriter/sample music garnered unexpected success. He played all the instruments on his debut album and later formed a touring band for live performances, earning accolades such as the Annie M.G. Schmidt award for his song "Voor Ik Vergeet."
Following his initial success, Spinvis released subsequent albums and collaborated on various projects, including a collaboration album with beat poet Simon Vinkenoog. De Jong's third album, "Goochelaars & Geesten," featured B-sides and live tracks, showcasing his diverse musical talents. His impact on Dutch pop music was recognized when he was awarded the prestigious Popprijs in 2007, solidifying his position as a noteworthy figure in the industry.
