Biography

Spandau Ballet, a prominent New Romantic band, achieved success in the early '80s with hits in the UK and the US, notably "True." Formed in 1979 by Gary and Martin Kemp, Tony Hadley, Steve Norman, and John Keeble, the band quickly gained popularity in London's New Romantic scene before signing with Chrysalis and releasing their debut album, Journeys to Glory, in 1981. Their pinnacle came with the album True in 1983, featuring the chart-topping title track. Despite subsequent hits in the UK, the band's commercial momentum waned, leading to their disbandment in 1989.

Following the split, Gary and Martin Kemp pursued acting careers, notably portraying the Kray twins in the 1990 film "The Krays." Gary Kemp continued acting in various projects, while Tony Hadley released a solo album, "State of Play," in 1993.
