Biography

Led by twin sisters Jacqui and Pauline Soho and guitarist/singer/producer Timothy London, the band Soho gained international attention in the early '90s with their hit single "Hippychick." Originating from Wolverhampton, England, the sisters began singing together in the early '80s while working as student nurses in St. Albans. After forming the band with early members Mr X, DJ Freeze, Liam Gillick, and Dukey D, they eventually settled on the name Soho. Signing with HEDD/Virgin in 1987, the band achieved success with their club hit "Piece Of You" before experiencing setbacks with the label's closure and subsequent moves to Savage Tam Records.

Following the success of "Hippychick," which sampled The Smiths' "How Soon Is Now," Soho toured extensively with acts like Jesus Jones but faced challenges with label changes and lineup shifts. Despite releasing their second album, "Thug," before Savage Tam's closure in 1992, the band struggled to replicate the commercial success of their debut. Amidst personal milestones like London and Jackie becoming parents in 1993, Soho continued to create music into the new millennium amidst a series of changes.
