Biography

SMO is a unique artist blending Southern charm, country lyrics, and trap beats. Growing up as John Lee Smith, he followed his childhood dream of making music for country people like himself, becoming the first country rap artist signed to a major record label. Influenced by a range of artists from Jerry Reed to the Beastie Boys, SMO and DJ Orig created the genre of country rap, producing over five albums before signing with Warner Nashville. Beyond music, SMO found success on television with his reality show Big Smo and recently released his autobiography, The Book of Smo, alongside his tenth studio album This One’s for You.
