Skinless

Skinless, a prominent American death metal and grindcore band from New York, emerged in the early '90s with a fierce blend of groove-laden brutality inspired by pioneers like Suffocation and Obituary. They infused their music with satirical elements while delivering scathing critiques of society, culminating in the release of their 1998 debut album, Progression Toward Evil. Over the years, Skinless went through lineup changes but maintained their reputation as a heavy and uncompromising force in the metal scene, releasing acclaimed albums like Foreshadowing Our Demise and From Sacrifice to Survival. After a brief hiatus, the band reunited in 2013 with their classic lineup intact, producing albums like Only the Ruthless Remain and Savagery through Relapse Records.

Formed in 1992 by guitarist Noah Carpenter, Skinless solidified their lineup with vocalist Sherwood Webber, bassist Joe Keyser, and drummer Bob Beaulac before gaining recognition with their independent debut, Progressions Toward Evil, in 1998. Signing with Relapse Records, they continued to refine their sound, incorporating subtle melodies and varied rhythms into albums like Foreshadowing Our Demise and From Sacrifice to Survival. Despite lineup changes, including the introduction of vocalist Jason Keyser on Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead, Skinless remained a force in extreme metal, releasing albums like Only the Ruthless Remain and Savagery to critical acclaim under the guidance of Relapse Records.
