Shirley Caesar, known as the "First Lady of Gospel Music," has had a remarkable seven-decade career, earning 11 Grammy Awards and 15 Dove Awards. Starting in her youth in North Carolina, Caesar's talent and dedication led her to join gospel groups, release solo singles, and eventually form her own successful gospel group, the Shirley Caesar Singers. Her music not only dominated the gospel charts but also crossed over to R&B and pop, showcasing her dynamic performing style and powerful vocals. Outside of music, Caesar founded the Shirley Caesar Outreach Ministries, served on the Durham City Council, and became a pastor at Mount Calvary Word of Faith Church.

In 2016, Caesar's viral performance of "Hold My Mule" brought her back into the spotlight, leading to her first number one on Billboard's Hot Gospel Songs chart and two Grammy nominations for her album "Fill This House" and collaboration with Anthony Hamilton on "It's Alright, It's OK."
