Brooklyn-based indie rock duo She Keeps Bees, known for their retro, bluesy sound, debuted with Minisink Hotel in 2006, drawing comparisons to artists like Cat Power and PJ Harvey. Evolving through the 2010s, they maintained their gritty vibe, exploring a more minimalist approach with 2014's Eight Houses and experimenting with shadowy electronics on 2019's Kinship. Initially a solo project by singer/songwriter Jessica Larrabee, producer Andy LaPlant joined as the drummer in 2006. Their atmospheric production and Larrabee's soulful vocals were well-received, leading to subsequent releases like Shhhh EP, Nests, and Dig On, all marked by a D.I.Y. ethos.

She Keeps Bees continued to grow their audience, working with labels like Names Records for the EP Revival and a European tour. Embracing their folk roots, they collaborated with producer Nicolas Vernhes for Eight Houses and signed with Ba Da Bing Records for Kinship, maintaining their quiet intensity while integrating electronic elements.
