Biography
SepticFlesh, hailing from Greece, have been crafting a dynamic blend of doom, black, and death metal since the early '90s. Their sound has evolved over the years, incorporating elements of neo-classical and symphonic metal, leading to standout albums like Sumerian Demons (2003) and Modern Primitive (2022), as well as the progressive Amphibians EP released in 2025. The band's lineup solidified in 2018, with core members Sotiris Vayenas, Spiros Antoniou, and Christos Antoniou leading the charge into a theatrical and brutal musical landscape.
Formed in Athens, SepticFlesh made their mark with the release of Temple of the Lost Race in 1991, followed by their debut full-length Mystic Places of Dawn in 1994. Over the years, the band embraced a symphonic style of death metal, notably featuring a female soprano vocalist on albums like Ophidian Wheel (1997) and A Fallen Temple (1998). After a hiatus in the early 2000s, SepticFlesh made a triumphant return with Communion (2008) and continued to push musical boundaries with ambitious releases like The Great Mass (2011) and Codex Omega (2017). Their 2025 release, the Amphibians EP, showcases their ongoing evolution and dedication to delivering a unique and powerful metal experience.
