Selda Bağcan, born in Turkey, began her music career in 1971 while studying Physical Science Engineering at Ankara University. After the success of her 45 RPM record, she transitioned to become a professional artist, giving concerts in Turkey and abroad. In 1972, she represented Turkey at the Golden Orfeus Festival in Bulgaria, followed by a tour of West Europe in 1973, during which she released multiple records. Known for her Anatolian Folk Rock style, she became a prominent figure in the music scene of the 70s.

Describing herself as the voice of the Turkish people, Selda Bağcan is recognized for her powerful and emotive vocals. She continues to release new albums and perform globally, showcasing themes of life, suffering, and rebellion through her music.
