Savoy Brown, founded by English guitarist Kim Simmonds in 1965, became a blues-rock institution with over 40 albums and a constant presence on the North American touring circuit for six decades. Despite numerous lineup changes, their signature blend of electric Chicago, Delta, and Detroit blues remained steadfast, producing hits like "Train to Nowhere" from their acclaimed albums Street Corner Talking, Looking In, and Hellbound Train. Following Simmonds' death in 2022, the band released the posthumous Blues All Around in 2023 under Quarto Valley Records.
Led by Kim Simmonds, Savoy Brown emerged in 1965, featuring notable members like singer Chris Youlden and guitarist Dave Peverett. The band's sound evolved from blues covers to a bluesy boogie rock style, with albums like Lion's Share and Hellbound Train garnering commercial success in the early '70s. Despite lineup changes and brief hiatuses, Savoy Brown continued to tour and release albums throughout the '80s and '90s, with notable releases on labels like Blind Pig and Ruf Records. Simmonds' final album, Blues All Around, released posthumously in 2023, showcased his enduring talent as a musician, vocalist, and producer.
