Based in Los Angeles, Samiyam is an underground producer known for his instrumental hip-hop beats, influenced by J Dilla and incorporating synthesizers alongside samples. He was one of the first artists on Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder label, releasing music both solo and as part of FLYamSAM. Samiyam's debut album "Sam Baker's Album" was released in 2011, followed by collaborations with artists such as Earl Sweatshirt and Joey Bada$$.
After his debut album, Samiyam shifted focus to behind-the-scenes production work, contributing to albums by the Gaslamp Killer and Flying Lotus. He continued to produce tracks for various artists including Danny Brown and Earl Sweatshirt, as well as releasing solo projects like "Animals Have Feelings" in 2016, featuring collaborations with Action Bronson and Jeremiah Jae. His discography includes a range of releases on labels like Brainfeeder and Stones Throw, showcasing his versatility as a producer in the underground hip-hop scene.
