With their early releases like Worship Him in 1991 and Blood Ritual in 1992, Samael began to experiment with synthesizers and atmospheric elements, culminating in the acclaimed Ceremony of Opposites in 1994, featuring macabre operettas that showcased the band's evolving songwriting prowess.
The band continued to push boundaries with groundbreaking albums like Passage in 1996, blending black metal brutality with intricate synthesizer work. However, their later releases, such as Eternal in 1999 and Reign of Light in 2004, saw Samael delving deeper into electronic genres, straying from their extreme metal roots. A return to their black metal origins with Above in 2009 pleased longtime fans, leading to subsequent releases like Lux Mundi in 2011 and Hegemony in 2017, showcasing Samael's enduring evolution in the metal landscape.
