Biography
Rev Run, also known as the "Run" in Run-D.M.C., is a prominent rapper from hip-hop's golden age who emerged as a solo artist in the mid-2000s. Born Joseph Simmons in Queens, he initially served as Kurtis Blow's DJ before forming Run-D.M.C. with Darryl McDaniels and Jam Master Jay in 1982. The group achieved widespread success, including blending rock into their sound with the hit cover of Aerosmith's "Walk This Way." After the tragic murder of Jam Master Jay in 2002, Rev Run embarked on a solo career, releasing the album Distortion in 2005 under Russell Simmons Music Group. He also gained fame with the reality show Run's House, offering a glimpse into his family life on MTV.
