Biography

Formed in 1990 by singer/guitarist John Reis, Rocket from the Crypt emerged from San Diego's punk scene with their debut album, "Paint as a Fragrance." After lineup changes and signing with Interscope Records, the band gained recognition with the re-release of "Circa: Now!" and the single "Ditch Digger." Their punky, horn-influenced sound culminated in the acclaimed album "Scream, Dracula, Scream," which included the hit "On a Rope" in 1995. Rocket from the Crypt disbanded in 2005, but reunited for live shows in 2013 and released the collaborative album "Vintage Piss" in 2015.

Rocket from the Crypt's energetic garage punk style made them a prominent name in the early 2000s, with releases like "RFTC" and "Group Sounds" on Vagrant Records. Despite individual side projects leading to their breakup in 2005, the band's legacy continued with occasional live performances and the posthumous release of a live album, "R.I.P." in 2008. Reunions and new projects, such as the 2015 album with Sonny Vincent, have kept Rocket from the Crypt's music alive for fans of their high-octane rock & roll sound.
