Biography
Rock City, a pop/rock band from Memphis, TN, was a short-lived project featuring Chris Bell and Jody Stephens before they joined forces with Alex Chilton to form Big Star. Formed by Bell and Thomas Dean Eubanks, Rock City recorded an album between 1969 and 1970 at Ardent Studios where Bell and Terry Manning worked as engineers. Despite the album's quality, Rock City struggled to secure a release until Chilton's interest led Bell and Stephens to join him, ultimately birthing Big Star. The lost Rock City album was rediscovered and released in 2003.
