Rival Schools, formed at the turn of the century, brought together experienced musicians from hardcore and post-hardcore backgrounds, including members from influential bands like Gorilla Biscuits and Quicksand. Their debut album, United By Fate, released in 2001, showcased their powerful rock sound infused with melodic singing and adventurous songwriting, earning them critical acclaim and a loyal following. However, internal conflicts led to lineup changes and a brief hiatus before the band reunited in 2008 to release their sophomore album, Pedals, in 2011.

Despite setbacks and lineup changes, Rival Schools persevered to deliver their sophomore album, Pedals, in 2011, following their acclaimed debut, United By Fate. The band's reunion in 2008 saw them return to the studio, reaffirming their commitment to creating music that combined explosive energy with melodically abrasive guitars.
