Biography
Richard Strauss, born in Munich in 1864, demonstrated musical aptitude at an early age and went on to produce music of extraordinary polish and maturity. His career as a composer was characterized by a focus on the orchestra as his natural medium, leading to a series of pivotal works in the late German Romantic repertoire.
