Biography
Rhett Akins rose to fame with the hit single "That Ain't My Truck" in 1995, gaining a dedicated fan base despite not replicating the same success with subsequent releases. A Georgia native, Akins began his music career early, forming a band with his siblings before moving to Nashville in 1992 to pursue a record deal.
A Thousand Memories marked Akins' debut album in 1994, with "That Ain't My Truck" reaching number three on the charts the following year. Although his sophomore release, Somebody New, initially sold well, it quickly dropped off the charts. Akins continued to release music with different labels, including Friday Night in Dixie in 2002 and People Like Me in 2006.
