His musical prowess earned him prestigious awards, including the Prix International de la Chanson Française in 1968 and the Verdienstkreuz am Bande in 1983. Mey's enduring success was evident in his 2013 album, Dann Mach's Gut, which topped German sales charts and solidified his status as a revered artist.
