Biography
Ray Davies was the driving force behind The Kinks, serving as lead singer, chief songwriter, and rhythm guitarist. Despite occasional solo endeavors, such as his 1985 film soundtrack for Return to Waterloo, Davies remained focused on the band until the '90s when he began exploring other projects, including the semi-fictional memoir X-Ray and the Storyteller concert series.
In the 2000s, Davies continued his creative pursuits with solo releases like Thanksgiving Day EP, Other People's Lives, and Working Man's Cafe. His collaborative projects, such as The Kinks Choral Collection and See My Friends album, showcased reimagined versions of his classic songs. Knighted in 2017, Davies further expanded his musical legacy with Americana and its sequel Our Country: Americana Act 2, released in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
