Raspberries

Formed in Mentor, OH in 1970, The Raspberries defied '70s rock norms with their classic pop sound, led by singer/songwriter Eric Carmen and drummer Jim Bonfanti. Their debut LP in 1972, featuring the hit "Go All the Way," solidified their critical acclaim and popularity. However, internal tensions led to lineup changes, with the band disbanding in 1975 as Carmen pursued a successful solo career. Despite a failed reunion in 1999, a trio version of The Raspberries, featuring Carmen, Bryson, and McCarl, released the album Refreshed in 2000.

The Raspberries' legacy lies in their ability to blend British Invasion melodies with harmonies reminiscent of The Beach Boys, setting them apart in the Cleveland music scene. While their chart success waned after the '70s, Carmen found renewed solo success in the '80s with hits like "Hungry Eyes." Bryson and other former members continued their musical endeavors, keeping the spirit of The Raspberries alive through various projects and occasional reunions.
