Pussycat, originally formed as the BG's from Holland in the 1970s by the Kowalczyk sisters, quickly rose to fame with their hit single "Mississippi" in 1976, reaching number one in the UK charts. The band continued to achieve success across Europe and England for the next decade, releasing a total of 17 albums. As the 1980s approached, Pussycat faced financial challenges with touring and eventually transitioned to using taped music for performances before officially disbanding in the mid-'80s. Despite their breakup, the sisters pursued individual musical endeavors, with Tonny receiving accolades for her country music releases.
