Propaganda

Synth-pop band Propaganda, consisting of vocalist Claudia Brücken, drummer Michael Mertens, and keyboard players Susanne Freytag and Ralf Dorper, was formed in Germany and later moved to England in 1983. Signing with ZTT Records, the band achieved success with singles like "Dr. Mabuse" and "Duel," which reached the British Top 30 and number 21, respectively. After releasing their debut album A Secret Wish in 1985, the band underwent lineup changes and legal battles, leading to a brief hiatus before regrouping in 1988 with a new lineup and signing to Virgin Records.

Meanwhile, Claudia Brücken embarked on side projects like Act with Thomas Leer, scoring a hit with "Snobbery and Decay." Brücken eventually pursued a solo career, releasing albums like Love, And a Million Other Things in 1991. Despite rumors of a Propaganda reunion in the mid-'90s, the band and Brücken remained inactive, leaving their legacy in the synth-pop genre intact from their earlier successes in the '80s.
