Project Pat, a prominent hardcore rapper from Memphis in the late '90s, gained recognition through his association with Three 6 Mafia and his hit song "Chickenhead" in 2001. Despite not being an official member of Three 6 Mafia, his contributions to the group's albums and his solo work, including the successful Mista Don't Play: Everythangs Workin, solidified his place in the Dirty South rap scene.

However, legal troubles began to overshadow Pat's career, culminating in a federal conviction for firearm possession in 2001. Despite setbacks, he continued to release music, including albums like Layin' da Smack Down (2002) and Real Recognize Real (2009).
