Biography
Perry Farrell's band Porno for Pyros, formed after Jane's Addiction, blended art rock, punk, heavy metal, and funk on their self-titled 1993 debut, featuring a mix of self-absorbed conceptual pieces and straightforward rockers. Despite initial success, the album slipped down the charts. Their 1996 release, Good Gods Urge, was well-received artistically and musically but also saw a brief chart presence before disappearing. The album's subsequent tour featured bassist Mike Watt and surprise guest guitarist Dave Navarro, delighting fans of Jane's Addiction.
Following the tour in early 1997, which included appearances on movie soundtracks, Perry Farrell disbanded Porno for Pyros to focus on solo projects and periodic reunions with Jane's Addiction. Farrell's shift in focus marked the end of the group's run, leaving behind a legacy of experimental rock fusion and a brief but impactful contribution to the alternative music scene.
