Biography

Planet Funk, a prominent figure in the Italian dance music scene, formed in 1999 through the merging of Souled Out! and Kamasutra. Their hit song "Chase the Sun" in 2000 propelled them to success, leading to their gold-certified debut album "Non Zero Sumness" in 2002. Subsequent releases included "The Illogical Consequence" in 2005 and "Static" in 2006. After a hiatus, they returned in 2011 with "The Great Shake" and released "The Great Shake +2" the following year. However, the band faced a setback in 2018 with the passing of founder Sergio Della Monica at 58.

In 2020, Planet Funk celebrated their 20th anniversary with the release of the concept album "20:20," featuring remastered hits produced by Sergio Cerruti. They continued to release singles like “We-People,” “Revelation,” “Non Stop,” “You Can Be,” and “All on Me” in the following years. Looking ahead, the band dropped new singles “The World's End” and “Any Given Day” in 2023, hinting at an upcoming album later in the year.
