Since the early '90s, British duo Plaid, comprised of Ed Handley and Andy Turner, have been pioneers of electronic music blending '80s electro and Detroit techno influences. After departing from Black Dog Productions in 1995, they signed with Warp and released acclaimed albums like Not for Threes and Double Figure. Plaid's sound evolved over the years, incorporating acoustic and electronic elements in albums like Reachy Prints and Polymer, with a focus on environmental themes. Their latest release, Feorm Falorx, delves into sci-fi and artificial intelligence concepts.

Plaid's early years were shaped by collaborations with Ken Downie in Black Dog Productions, contributing to the development of home-listening techno known as IDM. After parting ways in 1995, the duo released several albums and EPs, showcasing a dance music style distinct from traditional techno. They experimented with different genres and projects, including scoring films like Heaven's Door in 2008. Plaid's diverse discography spans from their debut Mbuki Mvuki to recent releases like Polymer and Stem Sell, showcasing their innovative approach to electronic music and their continued exploration of new themes and technologies.
