Biography

Formed in 1976 in Philadelphia, Pieces of a Dream quickly rose to prominence in the contemporary jazz scene. Originally a trio, the band gained recognition as the house band for the TV show City Lights before catching the eye of jazz legend Grover Washington, Jr. Under Washington's mentorship, they became the flagship act for his Elektra Records production company, releasing hit albums such as We Are One and Imagine This.

Transitioning to EMI/Blue Note and later signing with Heads Up International, Pieces of a Dream continued to shape the smooth jazz genre with a fusion of jazz, funk, and R&B. Their 25th-anniversary album, Acquainted with the Night, marked a milestone in their career, leading to a series of acclaimed releases including Love's Silhouette and No Assembly Required. With saxophonist Tony Watson Jr. now a full partner alongside Curtis Harmon and James Lloyd, the group's latest album, We Got This, showcases their enduring commitment to innovation and timeless sound.
