Biography

Paul Young first gained recognition as the lead singer of Streetband, which later evolved into the 9-piece R&B band The Q-Tips. Securing a solo deal with CBS Records in 1982, he achieved his first UK No.1 single with "Wherever I Lay My Hat" in 1983, followed by hits like "Love of the Common People" and "Come Back & Stay." His debut album, "No Parlez," topped the UK album charts for an impressive 115 weeks. The success continued with his second album, "The Secret of Association," reaching No.1 in the UK and the Top 20 on the US Billboard chart.

Paul's career peaked with the No.1 Billboard hit "Every Time You Go Away," along with other successful singles like "I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down" and "Everything Must Change." He further solidified his international presence with collaborations with artists such as Zucchero, Clannad, and Vangelis. Throughout his career, Paul has performed at major events like Live Aid in 1985, the Nelson Mandela Tribute Concert in 1991, and the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in 1992. Today, he continues to record and perform both as a solo artist and with his Americana/Tex-Mex project, Los Pacaminos.
