Orchestre symphonique de Montréal

The Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, founded in 1934, has become one of North America's top orchestras under the leadership of renowned music directors. From its inception as the Concerts symphoniques de Montréal, the orchestra has toured worldwide, collaborated with soloists, and garnered praise for its recordings. Notable directors include Wilfrid Pelletier, Désiré Defauw, Igor Markevitch, Zubin Mehta, Charles Dutoit, and Kent Nagano, each contributing to the orchestra's international success and acclaim.

Throughout its history, the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal has evolved into a prestigious ensemble, recording with labels such as Decca, London, EMI, and Analekta. Notable achievements include Grammy Awards under Charles Dutoit's leadership and winning the Diapason d'Or for its 2016 recording of Honegger & Ibert's opera L'Aiglon conducted by Kent Nagano. Under Nagano's direction, the orchestra continues to excel, releasing albums such as Chopin concertos with Charles Richard-Hamelin and The John Adams Album in 2019.
