Orchestre de Paris

Established in 1967, the Orchestre de Paris traces its roots back to the Société des concerts du Conservatoire founded in 1828, holding its inaugural concert in November 1967 under the direction of Charles Munch. Following the passing of its founder, the orchestra saw a succession of renowned musical directors including Herbert von Karajan, Sir Georg Solti, Daniel Barenboim, Semyon Bychkov, Christoph von Dohnányi, Christoph Eschenbach, Paavo Järvi, and Daniel Harding.

Klaus Mäkelä, who has served as the musical advisor to the Orchestre de Paris since September 2020, assumes the role of its tenth musical director in September 2022 at the Philharmonie de Paris, continuing the prestigious legacy of the orchestra.
