Nobuo Uematsu, the acclaimed composer renowned for his work on the Final Fantasy series, began his musical career in Japan, self-taught on the piano before transitioning to composing for video games in the mid-'80s. His iconic scores for multiple games, including the first Final Fantasy installment in 1987, solidified his status as a pioneer in the industry. Uematsu's diverse portfolio also includes collaborations with other composers, such as Yasunori Mitsuda on Chrono Trigger, as well as his own solo projects like the electronic keyboard album Phantasmagoria in 1994.
