Nils Lofgren

Nils Lofgren is best known for his roles as the lead guitarist for Bruce Springsteen's E-Street Band and a member of Neil Young's backing band Crazy Horse. Despite these notable associations, Lofgren has also built a distinguished solo career, starting with his work with the band Grin in the late '60s, followed by successful solo releases like Cry Tough and I Came to Dance in the '70s. Over the years, he has continued to release albums, with his most recent solo effort being 2023's Mountains, showcasing collaborations with music icons like Neil Young, David Crosby, and Ringo Starr.

Raised in Garrett Park, Maryland, Nils Lofgren discovered his passion for music at a young age, transitioning from classical and jazz studies to rock & roll. His early band Grin caught the attention of Neil Young, leading to collaborations and tours before Lofgren embarked on a solo career. Despite being a key member of the E-Street Band and maintaining ties with Young's Crazy Horse, Lofgren has stayed true to his own musical path, releasing albums independently and receiving critical acclaim for his introspective and personal works like Sacred Weapon and Old School. His diverse career was celebrated in the 2014 box set Face the Music, showcasing his evolution from a young musician in Grin to a respected solo artist.
