Birmingham grime MC Mist emerged during the mid-2010s grime resurgence, challenging the notion that only London-based artists can succeed in the U.K. rap scene. Mist gained prominence through a series of mixtapes and freestyles that quickly garnered millions of views online. His lyrical content encompassed themes of street life and financial success, as well as personal reflections on the loss of his parents. Collaborating with producer Shadow, Mist navigated melodic beats that contributed to his breakout in 2016, marked by appearances on Fire in the Booth and the release of the M I S to the T EP featuring notable tracks "Karlas Back" and "Ain't the Same."
