Biography

Formed in 1985 by Genesis guitarist Mike Rutherford, Mike + the Mechanics featured a lineup including vocalist Paul Carrack and Paul Young. Their self-titled debut album in 1985 produced hits like "Silent Running (On Dangerous Ground)" and "All I Need Is a Miracle," setting the stage for their melodic pop sound. The band found further success with the 1988 album The Living Years, which included the number one hit "The Living Years." Following a series of releases and lineup changes, they returned in 2017 with their eighth album, Let Me Fly, and continued to revisit their classic hits with the 2019 release of Out of the Blue.

After a hiatus, Mike + the Mechanics returned in 2011 with The Road, featuring new vocalists Andrew Roachford and Tim Howar. They marked milestones like the 25th anniversary of The Living Years in 2014 and embarked on a North American tour in 2015. The band continued their journey with Let Me Fly in 2017, followed by the release of Out of the Blue in 2019.
