Biography
After Justin Vernon left DeYarmond Edison to become indie sensation Bon Iver, the remaining members formed Megafaun in North Carolina. With a unique blend of lo-fi sound, reminiscent of Fleet Foxes, Megafaun gained acclaim for their albums Bury the Square and Gather, Form & Fly. Their later releases, including Heretofore and the self-titled Megafaun, continued to build on their reputation for eclectic folk music, earning praise from critics like Pitchfork.
Megafaun, a trio composed of Phil Cook, Brad Cook, and Joe Westerlund, emerged from the shadow of Bon Iver with their distinct harmonies and off-kilter instrumentation.
