Matmos, known for their innovative approach to music, shift their focus from collaborating with 99 artists on their previous album to solely highlighting Polish polymath Bogusław Schaeffer in their latest release. Schaeffer, a revered figure in his homeland, is recognized for his boundary-pushing work in classical composition, electronic experimentation, and radical theater, which has inspired Matmos to create a unique album using his recorded works.
With the guidance of Michal Mendyk, Matmos delves into Schaeffer's extensive catalog, crafting eight new songs that blend past compositions with modern influences. The resulting music captures a juxtaposition of the utopian 1960s Polish avant-garde and the contemporary cultural landscape, showcasing a fusion of historical DNA with futuristic soundscapes that pulsate with a distinct energy.
