Biography

Marcos Valle, the multi-talented Brazilian musician, was a prominent figure in the country's music scene from the bossa nova era to the fusion sounds of the '80s MPB. Despite not achieving the same level of recognition in America as some of his contemporaries, Valle remains one of the most significant and popular performers in Brazilian pop history. Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1943, Valle's career skyrocketed in the '60s with hits like "Sonho de Maria" and "So Nice (Summer Samba)," leading to successful albums like Samba '68 and Viola Enluarada.

Valle's musical journey continued with a shift towards rock-influenced sounds in albums like Garra, showcasing his melodic prowess and groove-heavy bass lines. Moving to the U.S. in 1975, he collaborated with artists like Eumir Deodato and Airto Moreira while also pursuing solo projects that incorporated electronic elements. Valle's legacy was further celebrated with reissues and compilations in the '90s, solidifying his status as a revered figure in Brazilian music. His output remained consistent in the 2000s with albums like Contrasts and Jet Samba, culminating in the release of Estática in 2010.
